Mets hold off Brewers 6-4....
Wednesday 7/2

Mets' outfielder Kwesi Mitchell blasted a decisive 2 run homerun and Matt Wheeler added 3 hits propelling the CJ Mets to a 6-4 victory over the Milltown Brewers. Mitchell drove a 1-1 offering over the leftfield fence in the 6th for what would be the eventual game winner. The homerun is Mitchell's 2nd of the year as he now has an impressive 9 RBI in 7 games.

The homerun backed backed a pedestrian outing for Mets ace Steve Godowski. Godowski, who threw 15 pitches on Monday prior to an eventual rain out, gave up 4 runs (3 er) on 4 hits and struck out 7 in 5 1/3 innings. Lino Mariot, who also added 2 hits and stolen base, finished off the game for his first save of the season. Godowski earned his 3rd win of the season as the Mets improve to 8-5.

The Mets continue their trek to the playoffs with a battle against crosstown rivals the Central Jersey Giants. Knuckleballer Matt Wheeler will take the hill looking for his first win of the season. Game time is set for 8:30pm at Renaissance Park in North Brunswick.

CARDS’ TOP METS 5-4…
Tuesday 6/24

The CJ Mets were defeated by the Woodbridge Cardinals on Monday night by a score of 5-4. In what seemed to be a sluggish first 6 innings for the Mets offense, a late rally in the 7th saw big hits by Matt Wheeler, Ivan Lima, and Billy Krapf to cut the lead to one; however the lead would stay put as the tying Mets run was stranded at first giving the Cardinals a one run victory.

Starter Billy Krapf earned the tough luck loss as his season record now falls to 2-2; overall the hurler threw a solid game but was deflated by a number of 2 out Cardinal hits, and a lack of offensive support by the Mets lineup. The Mets look to bounce back as they will hand the ball off to Starter Gary Zielinski on Wednesday night against the Springfield Yankees; first pitch is set for 8:30 pm.

And in better news for the Mets program, outfielder Bobby Beyer will be returning for play next week! The slugger who led the team in homeruns last year has been out for nearly all of this season after taking a fastball to the face, breaking numerous bones. His presence will be a key lift as the Mets lineup is still trying to fill holes and solidify spots for a long late-season run.

METS OUTLAST PIRATES 4-2 BEHIND RIGHT ARM OF GODOWSKI!
Fri 6/20

Mets ace Steve Godowski twirled his best game of the year on Thursday night as he tossed 6 scoreless innings of one hit ball to hold off the 1st place New Brunswick Pirates. The victory is his 2nd on the year, and drops his era to a stellar 1.16. The Mets offense was sparked by Christian Rosa who had 3 hits, and Kwesi Mitchell who launched a 3-run homerun in the 5th inning that we still believe has not landed yet. The home-run deemed to be very pivotal as the Pirates rallied late to score 2 in the 7th however ending the game stranding the bases loaded.

The Mets get back at it on Monday as they play perennial power Woodbridge Cardinals, first pitch set for 6pm at Johnson Park.

METS DROP 3RD STRAIGHT!
Tuesday 6/10

The CJ Mets were defeated by the New Brunswick White Sox by a score of 5-4 Monday night. Matt Wheeler started his first game of the year and seemed to be rolling along with a 4 run lead, but sloppy play and complacent offense brought the White Sox right back in the game as they exploded for 5 runs in the 5th inning to take a 5-4 lead and never look back.

The loss makes it 3 in a row on this young season as the Mets will now have to battle there first true test of adversity. They get back at it Wednesday night as Gary Zielinski will be on the hill against the Jersey Cyclones. First pitch set for 6pm.

METS SPLIT DOUBLE-DIP!
Wed 6/4

The CJ Mets took one of two games in there day-night double-header Tuesday night, surrendering their first loss of the season in the second game. In game 1 Gary Zielinski threw a complete game giving up no runs on a couple of hits, earning his 2nd victory of the young season while keeping his era at a stellar 0.00. Kwesi Mitchell sparked the offense with a 2 run double in the 3rd inning as the Mets went on to win easily by the score of 10-0.

In game 2, the offense faced their toughest challenge of the year on the mound, and battled late to take the game into extra innings. PJ Valenza led the offense with 3 hits, none more important than his 2 out game tying single in the bottom of the 7th. But it wasn't enough as Lino Mariot earned the tough-luck loss giving up a run scoring single in the top of the 8th to seal the victory for the Yankees. The Mets record now goes to 5-1-1 on this young season.

METS ENDURE TEST TO REMAIN UNBEATEN! BATS FINALLY COME ALIVE, AS METS ROUT NATS!
Tuesday 6/3

In a battle from the 1st inning on the Central Jersey Mets outlasted a scrappy Woodbridge A’s club to win their 4th in a row by a score of 5-4. Starting pitcher Billy Krapf went on to win his 2nd decision as of the year, pitching 4 innings striking out 8 batters. Trailing by 2 runs after the 1st inning, the Mets offense came to life scoring 4 runs in the top of the second on timely hitting and aggressive base running. The bats then slowed down for the Mets, but timely play from Lino Mariot came up clutch as he used his speed to score what would be the game winning run in the 5th inning by stealing 2 bases and scoring on an errand throw. Pitcher Steve Godowski came into close the door for the Mets as he threw three flawless innings in relief giving up no hits, and striking out 3.

The Mets now move to 4-0-1 on this young season, and will take part in there first double-dip of the year Tuesday night at Thomas Edison park.

METS ESCAPE A WILD ONE!
Wednesday 5/28

In a crazy game that saw everything from shutdown pitchers, to freak injuries, to wild weather the CJ Mets came out on top of yet another low scoring affair 1-0 vs the East Brunswick Dodgers Tuesday night at Memorial Stadium. Gary Zielinski started his first game of the year in normal fashion throwing 6 solid innings surrendering only 1hit and no runs. The lone Mets run came in the 4th inning as Raj Subramanian laced a hard hit single to left field that made its way all the way to the wall scoring Anthony Addone from first base.

The rain which seems to be the only consistent part of this 2008 NBMO season made its way into play in the 7th inning, as a torrential downpour came down ending the game at 1-0 in the Mets favor.

METS GET FIRST WIN AS KRAPF TWIRLS GEM!

GODOWSKI LIGHTS OUT IN DEBUT, METS END WITH DEADLOCK AGAINST CARDS!
Wednesday 5/21

After a long wait, the Central Jersey Mets finally were able to get their season started behind a strong pitching performance from rookie hurler Steve Godowski.

Godowski had 7 strikeouts in 5 innings of work, as the game was unfortunately called at a deadlock tie of 0-0 due to time constraints. The Mets had their chance in the bottom of the 5th, but a tough luck double play would end the small rally leaving 2 runners on base.

Starter Billy Krapf will toe the rubber Thursday as the Mets look to get their first W against the Milltown Brewers 8:30 @ Memorial Stadium in New Brunswick.

WILL THE METS EVER PLAY?!?!
Monday 5/19/08

Byer led the league in home runs last season, while Molloy and Mariot both have the potential to hit over .400 and steal 30 bases each.
